A good friend of mine has had 3 small block chevy motors grenade on him over the past 2 years. Most of the problems he encountered were absolute garbage high performance parts. 2 comp brand cams, that literally disentegrated within 1 day. Then 3 rd motor, cast pistons 2 of them, totally shattered 6 months after 3 rd rebuild. He now has a 4 th engine that broke the valve keepers, bending valve. 4 th motor is from a high performance builder in the Deep South. It's getting harder and harder to find quality people to work on our vehicles/ machine work. Besides the money part, never had any. I couldn't see paying somebody to screw things up. I started wrenching back when I was 15 years old, and keep learning everyday. In the future, scout out a low mileage engine way ahead of time. Wrecked vehicles are usually your best bet, especially rear end hits!
