1999 Remote Start

I've got a remote start on my truck, but don't know enough about it, and can't seem to find online anywhere (i may just suck at google) but I can't tell if this was factory installed or not. I'm not sure if it was even an option in the 1999's.

Anyway, it starts and died after 5 seconds, doesn't seem to matter if it's cold or not (tried in 60 degrees and 10 degrees, same result). I just don't know enough to even begin solving the problem, so any point in the right direction would be appreciated.

So are you saying you started it with your remote and it died or you started it with your key and it died.
If you started it with your key, it may have a bad chip in it. Your PATS is thinking someone is stealing it. Try your spare.
If you started it with the remote and it died, your PATS bypass may be faulty. Some of the older bypasses used a key inside of them. Sometimes people just made their own bypasses by hanging a ring of wire, and a key inside the steering column (bad idea). Maybe a wire has come loose?
So give us a little more info... but to me it sounds like a faulty bypass thinking someone is trying to steal your beloved Expy, and it's shutting down your fuel supply.
Your best bet may be to take it to a stereo install shop who also does remote starts, and have them troubleshoot your bypass.

Sorry, it's when I use the remote to start it. It was working just fine a few weeks ago, from your description it sounds like I may have jarred something loose by off roading. Does that sound right to you?

If I were to open up my steering column any idea what I should be looking for?
When it comes to mechanical things I'm fine, but electric wiring and that field is like reading greek to me.
