1999 Expedition $3000:
  • Two owner car, 139k miles
  • Lots of recent maintenance including brakes, spark plugs, fuel pump, rear diff overhaul, pinion seal, etc
  • Very clean inside and out
  • Aftermarket wheels with beefier tires
  • Will need transmission fluid pan drop and refill, power steering flush, and new tires in near future
2005 Tahoe Z71 $3500:
  • Two owner car, 189k miles
  • Comes with all service records, up to date on all maintenance including all fluids
  • Super clean inside and out
  • Newer beefy A/T tires
I need a reliable daily driver that can also haul the family and do light offroading. Not super concerned with gas mileage. My worry with the Tahoe is it is still on its original tranny and although it has been serviced recently and operates as it should, at 189k miles who knows how long it'll last. The Expedition is cheaper up front but the tires alone will be an additional $800 or so.

Both have clean titles with good service histories and records. Any opinions?

Without actually looking at either vehicle … $3000 for a 1999 Expedition?
To me that's sounds like a $1000 vehicle if its in great shape. That is pretty old!!
I have a 2003 with 180K miles and I think I'd be lucky to get $1000 for it.

Not sure where you live but that isn't the case where I live. $3k is on the high end for older, used Expeditions here but all of them are somewhere between $2-3k as long as they have a clean title and aren't beat up.
