Before I plunge in to this expense I would appreciate product info from folks who have already done this.

What mfr, part numbers and retailers did you have success with? I'll prob buy online from Amazon or one of the better known auto places, but always looking to repro others success.

TIA!

I have had to replace many coil packs over the years on my '98. I have used OEM, local parts places, and ebay and could tell no difference in any of them. For the plugs I changed them at 100K. They all looked great and the gap was good on all of them, I was having no issues it was simply preventive maintenance. I went with the OEM motorcraft plugs. I figured if they were good for 100K with no issues it would be hard to find a plug that would outperform that and cost more to boot.

Captain, I have done the plug change on my truck twice (at 60K and at 120K miles). At 60K I decided I was going to spend a few extra bucks and get the Bosch +4's. While in my truck they ran fine, there was not improvement in performance, even when compared to the 60K mile worn factory plugs. At 120K, I use some generic double platinum plugs (I want to say Motorcraft, but don't quote me on that) with a single electrode and again, the performance was the same.

As for COPs, I have just gone to the local auto parts store (normally Advanced Auto) to get the plugs and COPs.

Thx for the info. I'm not easily swayed by hype, a lot of generic and store brand stuff is the same as the big label stuff. My choice here is NAPA and O'Reillys. One is more expensive and the other are jerks.

I'll see what I can find on Amazon and ebay. My truck isnt running badly per say, just want to know that things are right and better than not.

MSD, got a good deal on amazon for all 8 and running +4s I myself see a difference, but not much, but did help in the MPG department.. If you are not want to spend 60 bucks a piece I saw a set of OEM replacements on amazon for 72 bucks for all 8 with 2 day shipping
