Hi all,

My 2000 Expedition (5.4 Triton engine, 4WD) has been at the mechanic (AAA-certified) for a month having all coils changed, a new O2 sensor installed and a few other things but it's still there because all the monitors pass except the catalytic converter monitor isn't running. A new intake manifold was installed a few weeks earlier.

The fact that the catalytic converter isn't running is preventing it from passing a California smog test (vehicle needs to pass in order to be legally driven in the state.)

Anyone have any ideas as to possible fixes for this issue?

Thanks very much in advance for any and all replies and God bless!

I've never heard of a catalytic converter monitor. The ECM/PCM monitors all the sensors on the engine and exhaust and will log codes when a sensor is reading results that are out of specification.

So what is the ECM telling you with the codes, if any?

There is a "Drive Cycle Test Not Ready" if that is what you are talking about.

Thanks for the replies, I really appreciate it. I just texted them to my mechanic (he's a very good guy and totally open to suggestions) and will see what he says.
