Just got my new, old 2000 Ford Expedition, 23,000 miles, paid 8500 dollars. Almost showroom condition. purchased from a 70 year old retired gentleman, original owner. Book value, only 7700. Did I overpay?

Congrats on your new expy and welcome to the forum!!

I would not ask if you overpaid because everyone here has an opinion...lol. I think you could have gotten one for less money in very good condition. Buyers market right now! But then again a 2000 expy with only 23,000 miles on it has to be very rare and if it was garage kept??? It all depends on what your looking for. As long as your happy is what counts.

Photos???

I seen the miles, so I just had to buy it. started looking around after the fact, and did see a number of very nice trucks with a bit higher miles for a much lower price. Thought I had the deal of the century, now I'm starting to wonder, lol. it was garage kept, or in a 3 sided carport. It's literally like new, even has a rust proofing undercoat. except for th nerf bars, it's show room ready. probably going to replace them after winter.

Like Tom said, if your happy, that's all that matters. I would be scared to by one that old with that low mileage.

Truck's value is $7700, you paid $8500, so yes, you over paid in that sense so it depends on how much the low miles was worth to YOU. As others have said if you're happy, that's all that matters

any maintenance suggestions

Thanks for the welcomes. I know it's od ball, for the year in miles. any suggestions as far as maintenance schedule, full tune up, fluid changes, hoses belts. everything under the hood looks new, however I'm no mechanic. has a recent PA inspection within the last 200 miles.

Even though except for oil you are before the mileage intervals for other maintenance I would go righ through it.
Rear diff: 75W 140
Trans: Mercon
Trans case: Mercon
Front Diff 75W 90
Serpentine belt
Brake fluid flush
Oil/filter
wipers
coolant flush

Basically all this and more can be done by the do it yourselfer

we have a few very low mile trucks. my dads '99 explorer has 31k on it. my '91 f-250 has 67k and i bought my expedition with 63k on it.

we have not has any issues with the low mile trucks that alot of people worry about. seals,AC,belts,hoses..ect have never been an issue. i'd say drive it and enjoy!

btw i think you did great. i would gladly pay over book for very low miles and i have in the past.

Looks great! I bought a 98 with 105k miles at the time for $1900 and it's been a year with no problems but doesn't come close to your shine! lol as long as you and your pockets are happy that's all that matters!

Lol, yeah pockets are a little lighter. but it's cool, like having a new truck with no payments. pockets would be even worse if I had forked over 40 or 50 k for a new one.

Thats a great looking truck you have. If you consider a new expy starts at $45000 and yours has pretty much the lowest mileage ever it mine as well be new. I say thats a steal. I could justify paying a bit more. Good find. Welcome

I would have tried to get it for closer to 7-8k but probably would have gone as high as you did. In that condition with those miles, this would probably last me as a 2nd vehicle for most of the rest of my life. I'm sure you can easily put 200k or more on it if you keep it long enough, drive it often enough and maintain it. Getting 200k miles for $8500 in an almost new SUV is really nice.

I would go with the advice above and change all fluids right away.
