2000 expy w/ Premium sound

Does the premium sound have an amplifier. I just installed a Pioneer Avic F900bt and the sound gets pretty distorted at moderate levels. There is an adapter available but I dont want to spend the 60 bucks just to find out that it's not needed. I will be replacing the speakers soon also.

I cannot find any info anywhere that gives me a definite answer.

What year do you have?

As far as I know, it shouldn't. Is premium sound the one with only 4 speakers? I replaced my stock HU with a Pioneer one, and replaced the front 2 speakers with some cheap Pioneers, and the sound was greatly improved.

Either way, it should sound better when you replace the speakers with something that can handle the extra "kick" the new HU has.
