My rear driveshaft pole vaulted the rear end at about 40 mph a few weeks ago. Just returned from the junk yard with an identical replacement for the rear driveshaft, as well as the 2 lower trailing arms that played a minor role in the pole vaulting maneuver as both broke at the front ends and ended up pointing backwards.

Any recommendations on what grease to use on the front of the driveshaft where it mates with the male splined shaft coming out of the ?transfer case?

Also, there are small drips of trans fluid coming from the lip of the seal at the rear of the ?transfer case. Is there a place to check this level? And what fluid is used to top off and where?

Thanks!

Well theirs debate on this subject, like most, but clean both the male and female parts of splines thoroughly. Apply some of the Ford Teflon grease, applying a little more to the male spline with a cheap small brush. You can pick it up at Ford dealer.
