Hello Expo family. I recently replaced my battery in my 03 Eddie Bauer. Had the battery since 2018. So I decided to just grab another alternator just to have. New battery went in and I woke up to a dead battery a couple days later. Charged the battery and replaced the alternator with the new one. Now , I'm not getting 2days out of the battery. Alternator was bought new but could be faulty. Does anyone know if there are fuses for the charging unit at all other than fusible link wire. I checked that wire and it had a little corrosion around the connection for the top of the alternator. Replaced the head and cut back for new wire with better current. Same thing. Any help is a blessing

Thanks for replying. Not sure if that's on the 2nd Gen models. Definitely will search for it

It could be a charging issue or parasitic draw. I've been down the parasitic draw road a few times I'm sorry to say. You can test for parasitic draw and/or voltage drop to locate it.

Here's some links to a bit of reading:

I had a failed factory amp for the sub in my '03 last year causing a parasitic draw that killed a brand new battery in 2 days. After troubleshooting on my end and posting about it, @whtbronco hooked me up with their old amp and problem solved. Lesson learned....20 year old vehicles can pop up random electronic failures! You probably have a new unexplained parasitic draw too. Good luck.

Do you have a multimeter ? What kind of voltage do you see across the battery with the engine running ? Should see around 14v DC . Do you know how to do an amp draw test on the system ?

Hello. Thanks for responding. I do have a meter. Would have to look into the amp draw. Never done one before. New alternator had been tested. This is the 2nd battery in 2 months. Weird didn't have any issues before we got single digit weather in PA. Original battery was old (2018), alternator a year later. So I swapped both.
