Just bought an 03 ford expedition 5.4L really cheap but in excellent cond. It's got 195,000 miles on it. How often am I suppose to do an oil change and what type of oil is best for high mileage??

Thanks bro! I've also installed Lexani tires 305/35R24 122V XL together with Versante 24's. I'll be posting some pictures soon. Your ride looks awesome!

+1 to Freeway's opinion. I run RP nearly 9 yrs now without issues.. Albeit, it is kinda pricey, but it a preference.. I change every 2-3 months, regardless of miles...

i change every 3,000 since the oil also lubricates the supercharger and due to the increased wear/tear from towing.

i also have magnets on the exterior of the oil filter to caputre any debris that the filtration doesn't get.

your filter is the most important part IMHO.

I'd just go to Walmart and pick up a couple of jugs of Mobil One 10w-40 High Mileage synthetic and Motorcraft 820s filter and see how you like it. I've been using Mobil One since the '70s and it's always been a great oil, no sludge or heat break downs. You'll find you can go 10k miles easy between oil changes with Mobil One.

I have switched to Mobil 1 Extended Performance and I love it. I actually noticed the engine running quieter after the first oil change. +1 at buying at wal mart. I saved like $8 on the 5 quart jug and $1.50 on the guarts. I am usin the Mobil 1 EP oil filter though. They guarantee for 15k miles but I dont wait that long.

pro-tip for buying oil at Wally World: Check the caps to make sure they haven't been opened. The 5 quart jugs sometimes have foil seals also. Got duped once on a 5 quart jug that some a$$hat returned with used oil.
