I traded a 2002 Mustang GT for a 2005 Expedition EB with 147K on it. Doing a few thing to get it back up to par I completed a complete engine overhaul which includes: New cam phasers, new oil pump, new timing chain with guides, new VCT Solenoids, new cam positioning sensors, new crank positioning sensor, new TPS, new plugs all around (didn't break any taking them out) and new Accel coil packs all around. Once I finished everything up I went for a test drive and all the noise I use to hear in the front end went away, ran and drove wonderful. The next day I went for a spin and after about a mile out it just died, no reason. I put it in park and tried to start it back up and it started twice but died again quickly after. I walked home and got the flatbed to get it. Once back at the house I can't get it to restart! I pulled every plug back out and checked the spark and both banks are firing. I also changed the fuel filter, while the filter was off I turned on the key to check to see if the pump was pumping and it was. It was pumping but I don't know how much pressure due to no test port. I talked to the dealer about my issue and all they said was bring it in to have the computer reflashed. To me that makes no sense. Has anyone else had this issue? I tried the reset on the inertia switch to no avail. I am out of things to check, any ideas?

One of two things to check, low fuel pressure and injector pulse. If I remember correctly you need at least 30 lbs of pressure to run. Injectors can be checked with a noid light or stethoscope.
If injectors aren't working it could be ecm/pats, crank sensor, cam sensor if used. Just because they are new doesn't mean they won't fail.

The ecm needs a signal that the engine is running or the fuel pump shuts off.

I don't see why the ecm would need to be reflashed. A good scan tool would be able to get you going in the right direction. Once you find it, it will something stupid - always is in my case.

Check fuses to the ecm first - you never know...

That is one of the tricks we play on new hires. The ecms on the trucks have 2 fuses. Pull one and it kills one bank of injectors, engine still runs but like crap.

I have doubled checked all my sensors and all came out with in spec. I put the noid on both banks for injectors and coils. I get a huge bright light with all eight injectors but only a dim light with on the coils. When I checked voltage I got 11.48v on all eight. I was told it was the fuel pump driver module, replaced it, still nothing. I also tried the reset on the inertia switch, still nothing. I went through every fuse, one by one and every single one is good. I just don't know fords that good. Guess I might have to break down and buy a otc genisys.

Is the fuel injection system returnless - single line to the rails? If so it may be the regulator has crapped out. I don't remember if you disconnect the vac line or the electrical connector to test. Try each one, if it runs, don't let it run long or it will take the cats out with excessive fuel.

If you need to see what it looks like there is one on ebay, item #321097731608

I haven't looked at mine to see if it is the same. There is another regulator that has a round shape.
