Well I just traded my 2007 Pontiac grand Prix for my old 2005 ford expedition. The person is a great friend and family mechanic. The motor is messed up so I have the whole drive train out of her. Right now going to do a motor swap and was wondering what you think I should do a 5.0 coyote or a ecoboost from a f150. You can start giving me suggestions for the build its going to be a project as the raptor is my dd.

Would you use the harness from FRPP? If you can't use the variable valve timing then swapping in a 5.0 is pointless IMO. Does the ecoboost have VVT as well?

I think all new ford engines have vvt. I would say v10 or 7.3 powerstroke diesel.

I think I would go with the ecoboost or maybe the 5.0 coyote with an power adder. It will probably will come down to what is available. Either will require ecu and wiring harness swap. The ecoboost uses direct fuel injection (much higher psi) and believe the coyote uses returnless style fuel system so the fuel system would need to be upgraded as well.

I was thinking power stroke but it is even more work with the diesel and then I dont think a 7.3 would fit in here. I think I would have to do either a 4 cylinder Cummins or a v6 powerstroke.

It would depend on what your wanting out of it in the end!

If it were me and i was going to go through all the hassle of a project and a motor swap it would have to be the 5.0! If i was going to start something like this it would be for more power! There have been several examples that 500 hp is easily made with an intake, exhaust, and a tune with the coyote!
