2005 no reverse lights or 4wd

I bought a 2005 Eddie Bauer edition expedition. After I purchased it i realized the reverse lights don't come on in reverse. I changed bulbs and checked fuses but nothing worked. Also the 4wd doesn't come on when you turn the switch. It does have automatic 4wd that kicks in when it detects a slip but you can't manually put it in 4wd. I'm not sure if the 2 issues are related but I just tried changing the safety neutral switch thinking it may solve both issues but nothing. Any advice would be appreciated

I don't see how to 2 are connected, but I don't have a schematic for your vehicle to say 100 percent for sure. As far as the backup lights you need to get a test light or volt meter and test for power/ground at the bulb socket itself. You'll have to backtrack from there. Could be a broken/ pinched wire somewhere. As far as your 4 wheel drive, same thing, need to check for power from switch all the way to the transfer case motor. Theirs videos online that can help narrow it down. I'm sure one of the others will chime in soon with a possible fix from their vehicle with similar symptoms.
