First things first, my name is Dakotah. I live in Missouri near Joplin. I'm a new guy to these forums, but I'm a member of a few other forums including RangerPowerSports where I'm a super mod. I know people get pissed when new guys don't use the search function, but I tried to use it and couldn't find what I needed.

Anyway, I don't have an expedition, but my mom has had two. A 2003 Eddie Bauer that she traded in on a 2006 Eddie Bauer. Both fully loaded, blah blah blah...She's having a couple of problems with the 2006 as of recent.

First off, the passenger side floor is always soaked with water after using the AC. I've heard this is a common problem, but I can't get it to stop. I tried to unclog the drain tube, but it's actually cracked right above the frame rail. Not sure what to do about this one.

Second off, earlier today, reverse quit working. Every other gear seems to shift just fine, but when it goes in reverse, the motor just revs. I went and checked the tranny fluid, and it was so low, it wasn't even registering on the dip-stick. I put in a full quart of fluid and started driving around and still no reverse. We did find out the last time she took it to Wal-Mart (I know, I know), for service, they "checked the tranny fluid"...that was 8 days ago. There isn't a drop of fluid in the garage. Not sure how that much fluid goes missing in 8 days without a trace. They're offering to pay for a flush/fill and filter change, but I'm wondering if this will help.

Third thing, the entire hatch and front edge of the hood are covered in bubble under the paint. The aluminum seems to have corroded and the paint is bubbling off.

The truck is covered until 75,000 miles on a comprehensive warranty, so I'm hoping this is all covered, but I'd like to know how to fix it if not.

Thanks in advance.

I've been told it's the evaporator. The condensation from it is getting inside from somewhere, but I can't find where.

Sorry about your troubles. The only thing I can help with is the bubbling paint. That is a known issue on the hood and rear hatch. Unfortunately Ford's corrosion warranty is for "Rust Through" meaning the rust has to penetrate the metal. Since the panels are aluminum, you're not going to get rust through....so Ford isn't going to cover this.

Not sure if its related but i had to help a buddy seal his heater core back up when he swapped it out he had leaking in his car right before it hit the drain tube we just dried it out and used that one minute (still took 10 min) dry rtv sealant and it did the trick

That sucks to hear...I got some body shop buddies though, so maybe we can get it taken care of on the cheap. She's talking about trading it in on an F-150 Crew-cab, so we just gotta get it presentable.

If it was the heater core, wouldn't it be coolant leaking?

Well, my mom is taking it to the Ford dealership tomorrow and hoping everything is covered under warranty. Her plan is to see about getting it fixed, and if it's not covered on warranty, she's just going to trade it off right then and there.

Hey Stoned, I got this same problem on my rear hatch and hood. Do you know if this is something that can be spot treated or does the entire hatch need to be re-done?

Thanks.

Usually when the paint starts to bubble on aluminum panels, it is caused by bad prep work, or a contaminate when it was painted. The whole panel will have to be stripped, preped correctly, then repainted for the repair to be correct and last.

I was afraid of that. I know a body man I can trust so I'll see what kind of price he can work it for. Thanks.

Yeah, a strip and repaint is necessary. Maybe not the whole hatch, but a good portion to make sure it's not going to happen again.
