2007 Expedition drivers seat won't recline

The 10 way power seat worked properly last week. Had it reupholstered and now it won't recline. All other movement works. The motor twitches a little when you press the recline button and will get hot if you mess with it too long. All connections appear tight. Any thoughts?

Welcome to the Forum Britt. It sounds like it something is binding the gear train. Might want to take it back the upholstery shop and ask them to look at it.

They took it back and when they installed it a second time it still didn't work. I lost faith in their abilities and figured I'd be better at figuring it out. They kept saying the motor was bad. I think it's more along the lines of what you said. I can't figure out if it's a serviceable part or not.

I think I'm going to need to replace the entire back portion of the seat. I haven't been able to find any information on replacing only the motor/gear that reclines the seat.
