2011 xlt sub harness

anybody know if the wiring is already there? I could pull the panel and check - but figured one of you guys may have done it already. I am probably going to just put an oem one in if it is already prewired. Thanks, Mike

I had mine apart and did not see any wiring. I have a 2011 XLT EL and was able to pop off the "cubby" cover and look down in. I will be interested to see what you find

just trying to add the factory sub. my xlt does not have a subwoofer and i miss it from the other Expy. I was going to buy the factory amp/sub and put it in there and was hoping the wiring would already be there. I like the factory one because it is completely out of the way. I have not seen an aftermarket one for an 11 standard length that goes in that spot.

Just a thought... the JL Audio Stealthbox mounts inside the same space as the factory sub.

Not cheap, but the sound won't be cheap either. You'll need to add an amp, but a monoblock amp shouldn't be too much trouble.

Just curious what you're gonna do about the head unit. Are you replacing that also? If your Expy didn't come with the subwoofer setup chance are the head unit won't have the plug in the back for the sub.


If you need to fab up a harness for the factory sub let me know I have an extra factory plug ( sub woofer end ) with about 12" of factory wiring.

911Jason-I have a standard length Expy, have not seen a prefab for it (would definitely consider that instead) , I want to try and keep stock appearance because when we travel, we use every inch of space in the Expy. I have 5 10"s and 2 12"s laying around and amps from a past life, but priorities have changed (I may still just end up throwing a single 10 and an amp in there-but I was looking for the easy route-plug it in and be done.
RI-Matt- I am planning on leaving the factory deck in because of all of the Sync and Sirius stuff built in. I have the kenwood DDx-514 from my old Expy, but do not want to lose all of the functionality of the stock stereo, but, I am still undecided on that. I was hoping somebody had already done this and realized all the wiring was there already. I may have to investigate on my own. But pulling that first panel on a brand new vehicle is always painful. I bought my old Expy used, so I had no problems with yanking it apart.

I totally forgot the stealthboxes are for EL models only. I have a 10" sub in a sealed box sitting in my cargo area, with a 5-channel amp inside that panel where the factory sub used to be. If I had an endless supply of cash I would buy the stealthbox and then probably move the amp either to under the 2nd row seats or into the tray area under the rear cargo floor. Not sure if it's big enough though.

im wanting to put my amp to power my 18" sub in the tire ratch area...or do a custom where i remove the factory sub and do a custom battery/cap/amp install with plexi...i want to be able to show it

Freeway - you wouldn't want my amps. I have been fortunate that they are the same ones I have in multiple vehicles for over 15 years. I even have a couple of other ones that are in friends boats. i have just been lucky with them, but they are not pretty. I think I have all of my big ones loaned out right now also. I only kept two small ones (one is going in the boat, and it appears the other one may be going in the Expy). Then I have one other little one that used to run rear fill speakers in my Grand Cherokee. I may just end up throwing a single 10 I have in a sealed box in there for now. If i find out the wires are not there.

Did you ever take the time to pull the cover? I'm in the same boat. Just got a new Expo without the premium sound. I was looking to pull the sub out of the old expo and reinstall to the 2014 if the wiring is plug and play. Any help would be sweet.

Twinjugs - I completely forgot about this because it became my wife's DD. But I just went out and pulled the top panel and realized she does have the factory sub back there. I guess it really just made that big of a difference when I have changed the HU out in the old one (the 06) and was able to control the volume of the sub with the HU.

Sorry - not too much help here since hers does have the sub. The panel does pop off real easily - I had just never taken the time to do it.

I really appreciate the response. I went out to the 2011 Expo and the woofer harness lead that is present is not present on the 2014. So, in short, it seems that if your vehicle did not come with a factory sub, there is no awaiting harness to pop a factory sub in. That would be too easy.

I think finding the harness would be only half your battle. Your radio doesn't have the plug in the back to connect to the sub anyway. So you would need to buy a new radio along with the subwoofer/amp enclosure. Not saying it can't be done, as I did it in my 06 F150, but the harness was the cheapest part.
