K&N will dust a turbo quick. Lots of the diesel guys have found that out.

Reply was not to you, you state that it's not the problem but then say it's a good idea to clean it. That what I recommended to OP not you.The K&N set up works great. I have them on all 5 of my vehicles. That’s not the problem. However, if you over-oiled the filter and some of it got on that sensor, it can cause problems. So cleaning it is a good idea.
But like others said, sounds like an ignition problem.
