2015 - Engine cuts out going up hill with a load or pulling a trailer

Thank you everyone for your help! Upon inspection and diagnostics, my mechanic could not find anything obviously at fault, so we started with new plugs since that was the least expensive thing to try. It seems that one or more of the old ones must have had an issue, because I just returned from towing a 7,000 lb trailer 1,200 miles without any problems. (knock on wood) I'll post an update here again if anything more develops. I appreciate everyone's input!

The K&N set up works great. I have them on all 5 of my vehicles. That’s not the problem. However, if you over-oiled the filter and some of it got on that sensor, it can cause problems. So cleaning it is a good idea.
But like others said, sounds like an ignition problem.
Reply was not to you, you state that it's not the problem but then say it's a good idea to clean it. That what I recommended to OP not you.
