I have a new to me 2015 King Ranch 4x4. I'm going to make a few changes to make it not look like your standard grocery getter. Please advise with opinion or fact for any of the items below. I've done a lot of reading on here, but i'm not completely clear on some items (mostly the lift).

I want to put new 33" AT tires on, but am concerned about rubbing. I'm willing to add the 3/2 lift that seems pretty popular, but don't want to do this if it isn't necessary to avoid rubbing. Will the front "leveling" lift be enough to not rub with 33s?

My rig is white with the dark brown bottom trim. I'm thinking of these wheels GD10 or XD829, anyone have these or seen them? What spacing would now have the tires extending out past the edge of the vehicle (don't want rocks, and dings), but would reduce the chance of rubbing? Also feel free to comment on which looks better or other ideas.

Is there an after market roof rail that replaces the stock rail running lengthwise of the vehicle? I'm not overly fond of the stock chrome rail look, or its height.

Are there any mods that can be done to pep up the 3.5L eco that don't compromise integrity a whole lot? I just bought my wife a 2019 Stealth Edition & that thing has a lot more get-up than that 2015 does. I'm worried after the tires it will need a bit more HP.

What is your opinion on winch bumper options that don't look like a cattle gap hanging off the front. I'd like the keep the front looking as clean as possible.

Thanks for any input or comments.

I know a guy on here running no lift with 285/60/20 on 20x9 +25 wheels. No rubbing. No trimming. 33.46” y’all and like 11.2” wide. That’s gonna be the max tire size for that offset without lifting though

You asked for opinions.... Neither wheel does anything for me. Its the bead locker thing around the outside edge. The brown/bronze on the GD10 would compliment the truck though. Your stock wheels might look fantastic with the right A/T tires.

If your KR is a short wheelbase, non-EL, take a look at a 2003 Expedition roof rack. The bars are adjustable front/rear and can be completely removed, leaving just the low profile track. You should be able to find one of these for next to nothing. Probably easier to install one of these than to just ditch the original and contend with the holes.

I'll add some photos for reference:

That looks exactly like what I’m looking for. Do you think that rack bolts up to the same location as mine? It is the short wheel base. There is a u-pull it salvage yard near me that probably has a unit like that.

I think it will. My 2008 came with the 2003 rails from the factory (no cross bars) and to be honest I don't think much, if anything, has changed with the shell of the vehicle from 03-17. Salvage should be full of 03's, good luck!

Looking at the wheels i listed, i can only find a set with a +15 spacing. Do you think that would cause issues? I don't know much about what the spacing numbers mean.

Thanks

I have the exact same vehicle, by vin number, as members have commented that it is a marketing thing, but not a real 2015 King Ranch 4x4. I bought at an auction in february in SLC and it was a police unit 83k. It has skid plate and had a cop center console, which I swappped out with a 2017 center console, easy enough except the wiring for usb sync and 12 volt inside box light and usb ports, as wiring colors changed from 2015 to 2017 center console, which I have posted looking for help. Point is mine has no roof rack and I very interested to know for sure if same screw holes of the 2003 would bolt on. At 70 years old would save me a lot of grief if I found a 2003 rack to know it would fit. Mine came with almost new wrangler duratrac 275-65r-18, which almost looks like it is it lifted. I added bull bars to the front for running around in rural nevada, with all the burros, cows, coyotes, and more to lessen any damage that may happen in dark night areas. Again if anyone could help with the console box wiring colors and right usb connection? I have a female full size usb and box has mini usb connector.

The VIN identifier digit for King Ranch and XLT is shared. I kept getting excited to see a steal-priced KR turn out to be an XLT because the dealer put up the listing from the VIN and not actually looking at the car.

I’ll be able to tell you for sure on the roof rack as soon as I locate a 2003 in a junk yard. I don’t have much room to spare in my garage, and I think changing the rack is going to keep help me keep parking inside.

Just stick a dual USB cigarette lighter adapter w/ qualcomm quickcharge... they cost like 10 - 15 bucks online and work SO much better vs any builtin USB

@iamretired what do you have plugging up the holes in the roof? If they're reusable or fancy I'd love to buy them from you. I'm in the middle of doing a custom rack and want to use the originals to mock up the holes.

Looks like original screws from roof rack in roof and silicone. Still looking for a oem used roof rack

Hello iamretired, Are you still looking for a roof rack?
I just removed a black OEM rack from my 2017 Expy XLT. It's complete with side rails, cross bars, plastic trim covers and 12 bolts (8 for front and rear mounts) & (4 bolts with spacers for middle mounts) I'm asking $350 plus shipping

I’ll throw another vote out for the 5 star, 93 octane tune. It picked up my 17 limited in a great way. I can’t say what the HP improvement was as those numbers are always fuzzy, but I can say you feel a big difference when driving. Also, I have a physical boost gauge. Stock pegged at 12 psi, with this tune, it’s a solid 18 psi, maybe 20 at certain rpm bands and it might be my imagination, but it seems like it spikes to 20 for certain gears and not others... but either way, I recommend 5 star!
