Just purchased 2016 Limited with 65000 miles and not familiar with Expedition as I have been a Escalade owner, I needed 8 passenger. Noticed when using turn signals the mirrors amber lights to not flash. The emergency flashers do cause the amber lights in the mirror to flash. Is this as Ford designed?

I have a 2015 Expedition Limited 4x4.

The mirror-mounted, amber turn signal lamps are hard to see from the driver seat during the daytime - but they operate with the the turn signal switch.

If you have the BLIS feature - there is a small amber circle that lights up in the outside, rear view mirror(s) when a vehicle or object enters your rear, blind-spot area.

You really need to be outside the truck to see them. This is so it is not a distraction to the driver.
