I am new to this forum and new to Ford. Picked up my 2017 Expedition in March and still breaking it in. Only issue I have had has been a very minor, but annoying rattle or tapping sound coming from the front drivers door and occasionally the front passenger's side. This would happen closing the door and going down the road.
These rattles would occur mostly at speeds under 40 mph. Figured it was something in the pillar or related to the speaker cables in the door. Searches for 2005 - 2007 Expeditions here and on the web turned up nothing, but found a ton of useful info searching for 2011 and newer F150's that share components.
So, a heads up to anybody who is searching for a solution to this issue. I found it to be incredibly simple to fix (thankfully):
There is a small plastic cover behind the interior door handles that hides a screw. You can see the it clearly after pulling the handle back to open the door. This little cover rattles very easily when tapped with a finger and when closing the door or driving. I tried a little strip of black gaffer's tape across the top of the cover and the problem appears to be solved. Then applied it behind all four interior door handles, some covers were much looser than others.
Hope this is of use to anyone searching for similar fix and I hope you find it before having the door panel removed searching for another location.
