I have read that many certain year Expedition's LED passenger side strips lost the bottom half of the strip.
When I purchased my 2019, the bottom half of the passenger side strip was burnt out. I made them replace it before I would purchase it.
I don't see any easy way or possibly any way to replace just the strip. And man is the assembly expensive. I now keep mine off in running mode, because I think they burn out from too much use.

I keep mine off in DRL mode also. I have seen that the following part is the piece that can fix it. I have only ever seen the driver side on ebay for around 50-100. I check occasionally for a passenger if it ever gets posted i will snag it. Probably could find one at a pull apart or used light assembly on ebay.

Junk yard may be your best bet.

Parts like these are scavenged off by the junk yards and sold off on eBay etc as used parts, long before the public has access to them. You'll find the part on eBay for half the retail price for new.

You guys should all report these issues to the NHTSA. My 2016 Accord had the headlight warranty extended to 10 years for bad DRLs. It is a safety device after all.

I'm hesitant to buy something like this used, because you are essentailly rolling the dice on a part that was built to the same standards as the one that failed on your car.

Is there a way to cpmplately decative the LED DRLs? Do they have their own fuse? I feel like, if they weren't even there, I wouldn't notice.

Different jurisdictions have different rules. For example, in Canada, DRLs are mandatory to be on. In the US, I don't think they are.

Ford does this using software. All this is to say, you can change the DRL behaviour using Forscan.

Yes, you CAN, but if you live in one of those places where they are mandatory, you will be risking a large fine of ~$500-2500 depending on location...

Just saying !

It would be good if there was something definitive to say that a certain year or range of dates have the bad LED and a certain range is good. Did the part numbers change? There are a ton on ebay, but it's hard to know what you are getting. I have yet to see one that says it has even been tested.

This might be worth while. Lots of folks it seems with this issue. Add me to the list as of this week. Noticed the reflection in a store window while waiting on my wife to come out.

I submitted my complaint.
