Hi, everyone...we just got our 2019 Expedition about a week ago, and are dealing with some different issues :(

One that I hope y'all can help make sense of is that the auto start/stop system doesn't appear to be working. I can disable it, and it will say disabled. But on the status page, it shows nothing at all. And it never appears to engage, nor are there any indicator lights to say what is (or isn't) happening.

It's a 2019 with about 63k miles on it, and appears to be on the original battery. Is it possible that the battery is to blame? I'm just trying to make the best guess before spending $270 on a new battery :(

Most likely a battery issue. I just got a 2020 and it has a warning that pops up that says AS/S is disabled due to low voltage. I don't know if that warning was present in the 2019. You are getting to the point where a battery could be needed. You could try charging the battery overnight and see if it works again.

We bought our '20 in December 2022, original battery, and mine has never activated either. I discovered a "screen" in the Information Display that indicated AS/S did not activate due to battery charging. When you are stopped and see the grayed-out AS/S indicator with the line through it, you can select this screen with the arrows on the steering wheel. It's in the Trip/Fuel section at the bottom of the options.

Another symptom I was getting was the car entered Deep-Sleep mode in the FordPass App due to low battery on every shutdown. A battery load tester indicated my battery is not optimal, but still strong enough to start the car. I began putting the battery on a maintainer overnight, and this stopped the "Deep-Sleep" messages, but still no AS/S. I am not spending $270 just to restore AS/S.

When we stop, there are _no_ indicators for the start/stop system showing up at the bottom of the information display...no green light saying it's active, no grey one saying it's inactive. It's as if the truck isn't even trying ;) And that auto start/stop screen on ours is completely blank. I'll try leaving it open while driving in traffic to see if there are any messages that appear there.

My 2019 never had any warnings. My 2020 does have the warning. I also discovered it has a super annoying warning about my not fully functioning trailer lights...

The 2019 gave one warning and that was it. The 2020 goes on and off every 10 seconds. Guess I am gonna fix the lights now!

I put the battery on the charger overnight...still no auto start/stop indications showing up today :(

I just got a ForScan adapter, and it looks like there is a way to disable start/stop through there, so I'm hoping to figure out how to check and see if someone may have disabled it in the software.

I can put mine on a trickle charger for a couple of days in a row. Until lately the battery would take enough charge to restore the ASS for one or two drives and then no longer work. I know I'm living on borrowed time with this battery, but it's hanging in there for what I use the vehicle for.

Owners of older versions can buy and install the Auto Start Stop Eliminator. Newer models have the "feature" eliminated for a $50 credit due to chip shortages.

What still has me scratching my head is the complete lack of any kind of notification about the status of the system. It seems weird that there's a whole page on the driver info screen, that's just blank.

I'm hoping to have time this evening to look through the module settings to see if it was disabled. It's less that I _want_ ASS working and more that I want to know that there's not some other kind of underlying issue.

I went through all of the modules with Forscan last night, and confirmed that it's not disabled in any of the programming. I guess my next step would be to take a drive with Forscan running and a dashboard configured with all of the inhibit indicators loaded up, so I can see what is preventing it.

And thanks @keny01998 - I'll take a look. It's a 2019 with 64k miles, so the original battery is definitely not as sprightly as new...I was going to take it over to Autozone and have them test the battery for me, just to get some more data.

Here's what my 2020 AS/S display looks like when running and when stopped (along with the grayed out AS/S indicator).

That means the battery is low, this is what mine said when we purchased it used and it had been sitting for a month. After charging mine no longer says that.

I've charged mine overnight a couple of times, and the Auto StartStop screen remains completely blank :( We're working through a few other things, so we'll see

I had a 2019 Raptor that had the same issues after about 3 years. Ford put a new battery in and reset the BMS. Fixed the auto start problem. Cost was $210 out the door.

I had similar issues which all went away when I put the battery on charger overnight. I have found out that many of the systems especially in the platinum edition goes into "deep sleep" when the battery runs low and the only way to regain then is a fully charged battery. I have been mostly doing short trips back and forth to work and the batter never really recharges enough in the winter time.

We just ordered a new battery, which will be here later this week. Even on the charger, it wasn't resolving the issue. And my even after a weekend of longer (1.5 hour) trips, the battery was still showing 40% charged when I got home and hooked it up to the charger. So we'll see if that helps resolve the start/stop and a couple of other little gremlins.

I'm just curious....

Does your auto unlock work on the passenger doors?

We also have a 2019 XLT. And I think that when the battery is not fully charged the unlock at the passenger door handles does not work. It works just fine on the driver's door, just not the other doors.

Ours is currently not unlocking when grabbing the handle, and it's kind of a, 1st world problem, pain when I'm carrying my 2 yr old and the car doesn't unlock when I grab the handle.

I'm pretty sure the auto-unlock is working fine, as no one seems to have an issue exiting the vehicle ;)

New battery came today...once my wife gets home this afternoon, I'll see if I can swap it out. Fingers crossed :D

I mean getting into the car with it locked. With the vehicle locked, and the fob in your pocket, try to open the rear passenger door from the outside.

Mine no longer unlocks when grabbing the handle. I think it is also related to a dying battery.
