Wrench light lite up on instrument panel and vehicle immediately went into limp mode.
No gas pedal response just a struggling engine to run. Literally limped back to a parking lot and turned off vehicle.
Google search - found that if turn off engine then turn back on vehicle will start up. It did and ran fine.
A friend with diagnostic equipment and found multiple electrical issues but nothing specific to wrench light setting.
Happened two more times over two month period.
Finally made appt w Ford Dealer to diagnose and repair condition.
Any thoughts on this condition? I has seen fuel throttle assembly as possible culprit.

The throttlebody position sensor (TPS) can cause Limp Mode. Generally, there is a mis-match between the throttle position (the sensor value) and the accelerator pedal position (its sensor value). If the deviation between them exceeds the tolerance, the ECM assumes a major throttle issue (loss of control, potential un-commanded Wide Open Throttle) and throws it into limp mode (reduced cylinders firing, and limited to a low gear). Normally, all power is still available (brakes, steering, dash, etc.)

Examine the codes for a "Forced Engine Shut Down" fault. That would indicate a comms failure on virtually any of the module buses. A bad ECM can cause that. The symptoms would be listed as various failures all over the place, with no relative connection to each other, like "TPS Failure" coupled with "Right Rear Door Ajar".

Since you made it into limp mode, I'd suspect the TPS as the first culprit.

Go take it to dealership and tell them you need a new TPS on throttle body. It’s basically stuck open or closed

I literally posted this situation yesterday, but on my 2007. The difference is, mine doesn't run badly. It just only drives in 3rd gear, start to stop. When i stop in a parking lot, I turn the ignition switch on and off repeatedly, 3-10x quickly, and it usually resets it, and it will drive fine anywhere from 1-3 weeks before it happens again. Using an odbII reader yields no codes.

Brought vehicle into Service this morning and getting a tune up. I will mention throttlebody position sensor (TPS).

Thank you all very much.
