Greetings,

While I am not new to Expeditions, I wanted to inquire about any performance parts, tuners, etc. for the 2020 Ford Expedition.

Before you tell me to search, know that I did query a few searches for performance modifications with very few results.

That said, can anyone recommend any performance parts/modifications that can be used with the 3.5L EcoBoost motor? Such as tuners, chips, intakes, exhaust, boost pipes, etc.?

I know that I can simply "Google" this, but I wanted to hear from some enthusiasts regarding which manufacturers are better, which websites are recommended for purchasing, etc.

Thanks in advance!

It would be helpful to know your performance goals. Mild improvement? Maximum performance? Any towing? These engines are turbocharged, so it's easy to get good ROI on $$$ spent.

Whipple also has a Stage 1 kit that swaps out the intercooler, cold air intake, and does a PCM flash. I think it goes for around $2100. (I think you gain +90HP and +170 TQ).

Other options would be a straight tune with no hardware change.

Thanks for that website!

Mild performance improvement. Basic modifications such as tuners (not permanent tunes) or chips, intake, exhaust, boost pipes, etc. I am really just looking for recommendations of these types of products that others have tested out and believe to be good additions. I am not new to the car modification game at all - but I am new to Ford's EcoBoost motors.

Thanks for this info - while I would absolutely love something like this, the cost is a bit out of my budget - most likely because of the "Whipple" name.

I wouldn't bother trying to boost towing...expedition limited by wheelbase, weight, and brakes.

Not too worried about the towing aspect of things, to be honest. 9000+lbs of towing is sufficient for my Airstream.

Is there a tuner out there that anyone has tried (and recommends) that contains "boxed" tunes for different scenarios? Something like Diablo Sports, Superchips, etc.?

LokiWolf seems to be the most knowledgeable regarding tuners. HPTuners seems to be a popular option, but it's generally recommended to use whatever your tuner is most familiar with. There are many tuners that work on the Ecoboost platform.

Thank you for these sites. I shall review after work today.

I am suprised that no one has mentioned any of the "mainstream" tuner companies as I mentioned before. No one has had any experience with them?

Also, has anyone found a decent air intake system that doesn't cost $250+? I hesitate to check eBay for this vehicle, but I will admit that any many, many of my previous cars I have purchased an "eBay Special" for intakes that have lasted me years and years.

Performance wise I’d go in this order

1. tunes - BCB, ZFGRacing, 5 Star, Gearhead
2. Intercooler - Not sure who all is out there for the Gen 4 Expeditions
3. Downpipes+turbo flanges
4. Intake - this is only if you want to hear the turbos, no real performance

5. You wanna get wild, start looking at Ethanol and Ethanol tunes. E85 is a bad **** if you set it up right

6. Then there’s turbos

other things out there, BOVs, catch cans, exhaust, charge air piping, etc

I have several updated tunes from 5 star a cold air box from vortec . Down pipes a cooler thermostat and intercooler. Very drive able mileage is good. Plus it's an absolute animal compared to stock. As long as you don't constantly beat on it and do regular maintenance it should last just as long as. A stock vehicle

FYSA, when people say "tow-tunes", they don't mean to tow above max payload capacity/weight.

It is a tune set up to boost low-mid range, alter transmission torque management, adjust timing/boost etc. All to make your towing experience much more enjoyable, with less downshifting, and sweating less up grades often with a slight mileage bump.

And all of this--of course--at the expense or risk of something. Some of these hopped-up boosty tunes say things like "not for towing" b/c the stress of overboosted WOT on a 3 ton truck is one thing, but when towing 4 tons more on top of that...? There is a marked increase of a "Pop Goes the Weasel" scenario :893MrT-thumb:

I very rarely tow, or carry at max payload, but I have the factory upgraded tune. It is called: "fill the tank with 93 octane tune"

Still, if Ford offered a factory sanctioned tune as a dealer installed option (w/o buying the higher end models) giving me 425-450 HP and retaining factory warranty? I'd pay good money for that...

YMMV

Grey Ghost, I've been asking around on this forum for better part of a year for anyone that has downpipes. Did you go with SPD? How bad was the install, is it just like the F150 videos out there where you have to temporarily support the tranny with a floor jack or something while you remove the cross member? I have the SPD turbo adapters already, but I've been waiting to install them since I think the turbos need replacement. Just haven't dropped the coin on the pipes. Also, annoyingly, I never ever see sales or discounts from SPD.

BBK 73mm throttle body adds a nice performance bump.
Corsa exhaust sounds good from what I've heard on YouTube.
Levernois has a flex fuel kit that enables the 2018+ to run any combination of ethanol.
