Sunroof cover was rattling (more when fully open) and was able to convince dealer. Per dealer RO "lowered the headliner, Placed anti-rattle tape at the base for where the magnet sits on the crossmember". Seems to have solved the problem. I am not certain if it always looked like the attached picture, but when I inspected I could see bolts and exposed framing... Can anyone please tell me if their new expedition looks like this when the cover is open or did dealer leave something off when they finished the job?4BA0563F-1CBC-4A3E-ABCF-70A0DCF3821F_1_201_a.jpeg

My sunroof looks the same (2023 Timberline), so the dealership didn’t leave anything off. The bolts you are pointing to are the adjustment bolts for the rear glass in the panoramic roof.

Sunroof rattle was what drove me to get rid of my 2016 F150
4 trips to the dealer & was outside lemon law mileage.
No issues with the pano roof in the subsequent Mercedes C300
Just bought a 20 Explorer with the pano roof, fingers crossed for no rattles there.
Our Expy doesn't have the moonroof, luckily. Would've done the same on the Exploder, but couldn't find one without it that was equipped how I wanted.

Same rattle on our 2018 Expedition. I traced it to the metal bolts that hold the glass pane to the frame. Torqued them and the rattle was gone. It took me about 5 months to figure this out.

Yep. Mine rattles and knocks. Drives me crazy. I need to take it in and let the dealer figure it out.

New rattle tonight. I’m 90% certain it’s the sunroof. It did not do it this morning on the 100 mile drive up but did on the return trip 10 hours later. It’s loud and annoying. It must have to do with the temperature it was -5. Some snow and ice up there but not much.

I have a 2022 Expedition and has been rattling for over a year. The rattling sounds like it is coming from the sunroof. I will try and torque the bolts to fix. Thanks to R and N for suggestion.

Definitely temperature related. It was -10F when we started to hear it after the truck sat outside for hours. I’m no longer concerned. It’s not many days during the year it gets like that and I’ll make sure it’s in the garage.

Do you have any instructions on how to access those bolts or how tos? Thanks in advance

Thanks for this! The link refers to WSM, Section 501-17 Removal and installation - Roof Opening panel glass bracket. I've searched like heck to find it and cannot find it on the internet. Anyone have a link or a copy of how to get the glass out/off to access the brackets?
