Just a quick update, the dealer is bsing, I just got under the car and see the same drips at the rear of the transmission where it connects to the transfer case. Beyond frustrating.

I don’t see any other fluid anywhere else, so I believe their story about it he vent is straight ********.

Wow!

Good luck. Keep us updated.

That's unfortunate since it's easy enough to diagnose. And not this is hard to find, but I would use leak trace powder (comes as a spray) to find trouble leaks.

Went thru the same headache back over the summer. Finally puked fluid all over the interstate. Finally got a rebuilt transmission installed via warranty and so far no more leaks.

This is insane, was it leaking from there same area as mine?

Yes. They replaced the transmission output seal twice if I remember right, along with opening up the transfer case guessing that to be the source. After having it towed back they finally replaced the transmission.

Update. Took it back to the dealer. They continue to say that they believe it’s the vent from the transmission…. Smh.

Told me to drive it 500 miles and bring it in on Monday smh. Didn’t check the level, didn’t clean it off to see if it keeps leaking, didn’t put any dye in it, nothing, smh.

I called ford customer service and they were less helpful. Pretty much told me goodluck. So disappointed.

My belief is that if transmission fluid is venting from the vent, there is a defect or problem such as overfillling.

It is not normal for a transmission to vent fluid with normal driving.

Update, I took the vehicle back this past Monday. They drove it some more and checked it again. Turns out the transmission housing is cracked on the top, right at the rear. They don’t know how this happened, stated that it may have possibly been during the assembly process as the vehicle is so new.

They’re saying they have to put a new transmission in it and it will take a minimum of 30 days as they are currently back ordered.

They did put me in a rental during this time, but I don’t know what to do. I’m worried that the car won’t be the same after this huge mechanical endeavor.

Since the dealer initially couldn’t diagnose the fluid leak, I’d be worried that the transmission replacement won’t be done correctly.

It is interesting that the transmission is backordered - which tells me there is a demand for them due to defects.

I wish you nothing but the best - you may want to explore the vehicle lemon law in your state if the repairs will take more than 30 days from the diagnosis.

Virginia allows the consumer to chose a refund or replacement vehicle if the repairs take more than 30 days: https://www.dmv.virginia.gov/vehicles/general/lemon-law

I would not mention this to the dealer, but allow the time to run its course so you could file the action and obtain a new vehicle (or a refund if you want to go somewhere else).

Good luck.

I think this is the route I will take, I am also concerned about the dealership fixing this correctly.
I’ll second this advice. I had repeated transmission issues with the 19 that I just sold, and even with a supposedly factory fresh crate transmission installed in November 2024, it never drove right. We had a lemon law attorney assist us with a settlement and then sold it.

I would not have been upset about them making sure it was not a vent leak. Always start with the easy stuff. I’d rather them try that first than pull it apart if it didn't need to be pulled apart.

Good luck.
