So i have a 2003 Exp 4x4 with a 3in leveling kit in the front and 2in in the rear. I tend to pull alot of trailers and even small ones (2 snowmobiles or 2 atvs) tends to sag the back end down quite a bit and on occasion I pull a 4 place enclosed snowmobile trailer which really sags it down. I would really like to have some stiffer springs in the rear. I'm wondering if anyone knows the spring rate of the stock springs? One the same note I have a set of stock front coils from a 2008 f350 powerstroke and i'm wondering if they would be any stiffer (obviously cutting them down to be the same length as the exp ones). I hate to go to all that work of switching them out to find they are softer or the same. The diameter of the coil/wire is the same as the exp and the diameter of the spring is also about the same. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you ever swap the springs from the super duty over? Im in the same situation looking for stiffer rear springs; but there doesnt seem to be an alternative except something from another vehicle.

I did. The super duty front springs are a little longer so I cut them and the spring is a little smaller in diameter so I built a locating ring for it. What I would like to do is find some air bags to replace the springs with and then use my own switch, gauge, and compressor so I can adjust the stiffness.

This picture is with 5 snowmobiles in the trailer (one right in the nose). It weighs down our excursion and f350 pretty good.

Could you steel the springs off some worn out overload shocks and nest them inside your factory coils?

I've already got the compressor and tank installed. I have leveling valves, air line, fittings, etc. I'll be buying the air rides soon to replace my coils. I'm using Haldex style controlled response leveling valves like they use on semi trailers. That will keep the ride height constant, regardless of load, so I won't have to worry about adjusting pressures.
