I have recently been having a small issue with my truck, I've noticed that sometimes when I turn on my head lights I can hear a whine from under the hood as if I just greatly increased the load on the alternator, or even like a quiet power steering pump whine(lowish pitch not super high like you hear from speakers if there was a bad ground). I noticed it goes away mostly when I shut the lights off. I have no other signs that there are issues with the alternator. Charging is good, volt gauge is good, and nothing gets dim even with my stereo on. When I got the truck the battery was shot and had leaked acid on the terminals to the point I needed to change the ground terminal cause there wasn't much left.
When I replaced the terminal I had stripped back some of the wire to get fresh copper but maybe the wires are corroded through out the length of the cable. Do you guys think I should change out all the wires including the terminals for the battery? Could there be that much resistance in the wires that when I turn my head lights on it puts a strain on the alt?
