Okay so I have a 4.6 liter in my 1998 I seem to blow a head gasket and cracked passenger side head. Now I found a replacement 4.6l complete motor out of a 00 f150 it looks all the same only difference that I've seen the new motor as the coils on the plugs and the eighth number in the VIN number is a W. And the one I have the eight number is a 6..... any info anyone would have , would be helpful being that this is my family only vehicle I need to do the swap quick and without any problems so if anybody has done it already any help would be greatly appreciated

The new engine should swap no problems. Depending on exact build date it could be the updated intake and heads. Been out of the 4.6 show for too long to remember exact differences.

Its just smarter to use the original harness for your vehicle and swap it over once you get the newer engine ready to install. I ran into a issue with a 2005 to 2006 engine harness. I left the 06 harness thinking they looked exactly the same.. They was not and I had to remove the whole thing which is a pain as its buried on the side of block and swap one of the sensors as they was not the same connector..

You won't be able to swap over the COPs Take your old coil pack and swap onto the new engine.
A Town Car, Crown Vic or Mustang 4.6L may work, but you would have to swap intakes and manifolds. I would look for the correct year "donor" truck(check craigslist, people always parting them out. You know it will work and you have two of everything(for parts).
