my 4x4 won't engage. Lights work when switched, I hear a click in the dash. I have tapped the t/c motor, and I hear it click when disengaged.... while troubleshooting I see that when in 2WD, the front drive shaft is spinning. Is this right? i thought it would only spin when switched into 4WD. Would love to get this figured out. Thanks in advance for any help, and BTW thanks already to this forum for helping me sus out and fix my multifunction turn signal switch!

It's probably the center axle disconnect, which is down on the axle behind that plastic cover. It's vacuum actuated so it could be the solonoid, actuator or the lines going to it.

There's a cable replacement that I'm thinking of getting, since mine acts up quite often. It's made by 4x4 posi-lok

After pouring over the forum, I discovered in a post, a vacuum solenoid which is located right behind the battery on the passenger side. When I inspected this, I found all 4 lines undone...I had some work done on it about a year and a half ago, and they replaced the GEM module. I would hope this was accidentally left off when they were troubleshooting it at the time. ( I'm a little suspicious, as the work was done by a tranny shop). Anyhow, I plugged them in and boom, 4 wheel drive
