Hey everyone,
I wondered if someone can give me some insight into my problem. My 4x4 will not engage. I have jacked up the front of the truck with the vehicle off. With the vehicle off there is no vacuum pressure so the 4x4 should be engaged. This is what I found:
- the driver's side wheel, when spun, turns the front drive shaft and the passenger's side cv axle but not the wheel
- the passenger's side wheel, when spun, free spins. There is no grinding no humming no resistance. It does not turn the axle or drive shaft.
- when I turn the vehicle on, both wheels free spun (as expected)
- when I select 4H I get the same results as when the vehicle is off (passenger's side wheel still doesnt engage)
I have come to the conclusion that I need to replace the IWE (integrated queen end) on the driver's side. But everywhere I read, when someone has trouble with the 4X4 system or the IWEs the problem is it won't disengage since a spring forces it to be engaged in its resting position.
Has anyone had similar problems? If so what was the cause/solution?
Thanks in advance for any help!!
