98 Expi AWD question

Owned this eddie for almost a year now. 2WD, 4Hi and 4Low have always worked, AWD not. At first the AWD light flashed but never engaged. Now after replacing shift motor, still no AWD-no light. The new motor and cleaning the actuator shaft, cleaned up all engagements but still no AWD. Has anyone ever had to replace the switch in the dash? Is this an easy fix? Is there a dedicated fuse for the AWD setting or any other basics to check? Any thoughts on this problem or pics of repairs would be great.

You can remove the switch and check for continuity across the terminals.
