i have a 98 expo with 5.4l and 194k on the clock. it has some oil consumption which i am not sure from were maybe the heads. but the biggest issue i am having is that when i start it up i smell some unburned fuel in the exhaust and it tends to miss during driving and some uphill/under load. i get no codes and theres a smell of fuel sometimes in the interior. not sure wat it might be i cant figure it out anyone that might have delt with this in the past and has fixed it if you can help me out...

Sounds to me like if your having an oil consumption issue you may have a spark plug this is oil fouled and not burning the gas...depending how long its been like this with oil and fuel...you could plug your catalytic converters...or even have a O-2 sensor giving issue..

Sounds like a plug is starting to work its way loose from the heads and the fuel smell is what is leaking by; notorious on the Gen 1. Need to check/inspect each plug before it blows out, then its quite $$$ as I just lived through it earlier this year. This would also explain lack of power, basically misfiring but hasn't thrown a code yet.
