I've tried according to the manual to get my compass to read correctly but it always ends up showing the wrong direction. I must have circled it 4-5 different times. I've always put it in calibrate mode but no success to date. Anyone have any ideas?

I expected you to follow my post with a flip me the bird post or something. :)

Did you do the following according to the owners manual? If so what were the results? Calibrator indicator light does not turn off or compass reading incorrectly?

Without trip computer

1. Press and hold the SELECT
control until CAL appears in the
display (approximately eight
seconds) and release.
2. Drive the vehicle slowly (less
than 5 km/h [3 mph]) in circles until
CAL indicator turns off in about 2–3
complete circles.
3. The compass is now calibrated.

With trip computer

2. Press and hold the RESET button
on the compass module until CAL
indicator is displayed in the trip
computer.
3. Release pressure from the RESET
button.
4. Slowly drive the vehicle in a
circle (less than 5 km/h [3 mph])
until the CAL indicator turns off.
This will take three to five circles to complete calibration.
5. The compass is now calibrated.

First time I read them but these directions are quite funny by themselves. LOL. You see officer...I am calibrating my compass.. LOL

toms89, Mine is a '98 and I followed the directions 4 or 5 separate times but it still reads goofy. My push button is in the compass unit behind the mirror on the windshield. It appears my unit may have went south, so to speak. It now reads south or southwest most of the time.

Does anyone have an idea? I'm getting ready to go on a trip and I'd sure like to have the Expy compass working. I've now tried to calibrate it 7 or 8 times. Any help would be appreciated.

Unless a magnet or something new was placed near it, I would say you have a faulty unit. Sounds like you took all the appropriate steps to program it.
