My 1998 Ford Expedition 5.4L Eddie Bauer has had a problem with A/C air flow.I always have it to blow to "Panel" position. It starts blowing through panel vents, but when I accelerate, air flow switches to defrost vent position. Once I ease off the gas pedal, air flow is restored back to "panel". Many Ford Owners have posted about this same issue but apparently this is not an easy fix and most refer to different models. Has anyone been able to resolve this on the same SUV I referenced above?

Someone told me the problem is due to a messed up or disconnected vacuum line, but I can't find out which one. My 2003 has been doing this since I bought it 4 years ago.

Russ, 2 things. 1 the original poster is more than likely gone. It was a three year old post. And 2, we had a member about a week back that replaced his Eatc unit in the dash. This seemed to bring back his A/C back to normal. Hoses going up to the unit also rot, and cause a myriad of problems. Check that first. The Eatc has a diagnostic sequence to do as well!

I changed my control panel (EATC). Cost me $109 plus a $75 core charge. The control panel came in, I installed it in about 10 minutes....works perfect. True, I hated to spend the money, but I live in Florida and need my AC working properly. Worth it to me.

Hope that's his problem too! You were the one I was talking about. He'll need to do diagnostic first of course.
