I did find this after sending a pm to Ford Customer Service about the limp mode. Although it is for the Escape I would assume the logic is similar for other models.

Gets interesting around pg12 and beyond concerning the three failure modes and what the pcm does accordingly.
that all looked like it related to the fail safe modes for the electronic throttle module(drive by wire). it looked to describe how the PCM handles failures of two major sensors (tps, throttle pedal position sensor) and how it handles a stuck throttle plate)
I wasn't able to cause my ac to cut off by a misfire, i had it down to 4 firing cyl and it still ran and cycled as normal (front ac on low and rear ac off so it was able to reach low pressure to cut off)
I do still believe that is why OP had the ac issue though since there were multiple codes with the dead miss.
