A year that DOESN'T have massive transmission issues?

Definitely. Aside from some very minor towing (utility trailer w/ mulch/dirt), and/or a very hot day, rarely do I see the transmission temperatures go over 200F.

Sorry to hear about your expedition - if it happens again, I'd definitely look into lemon law. These trucks are great when they work, but unfortunately, in the increasing common times they don't, it quickly becomes a very expensive (and heavy) brick.
Others have said the same about their temps staying that low. Crazy! Regular driving for me with the brand new transmission is still running up to 219. We test drive it with the travel trailer when it was hot outside yesterday and it stayed under 234. Praying maybe this 4th transmission actually works.

Aside from the F150, what other vehicles hold the 10R80?

2021 Expedition Max Plat, under 30000 miles. Just had the valve body "overhauled", this past week, due to very harsh shifting from 3-4, 4-3, as well as from Park to Drive/Reverse.

Aside from that, and a couple other minor things, this truck just eats miles for breakfast.

Update to this if anyone cares.

Took the Expedition in (39k miles), yet again, for harsh shifting, but this time also at higher gears. There also seemed to be a small leak coming from the back, which I assumed to be from the differential. Two months later, and two loaners later, finally got the Expedition back. They rebuilt the transmission with a new CDF cylinder in accordance to the TSB, and also found the pinion seal & diff cover to be the culprit for the leak. Here are the service reports, incase anyone is curious.

Hows the shifting now?
From the initial 30 or so mile drive after getting the truck back, it seems to be pretty smooth. Won't really know until I get some more miles on it and after the transmission gets a chance to relearn/adapt itself. Fingers crossed, though.

So only time I saw 244 trans temp on my 2019 was hauling my 29ft 8700lb boat over Grants Pass Oregon in 100 degree weather we saw 245 just as we crested the pass keeping rpms around 1900 with the heater blowing full tilt.
Higher rpms seem to just spike temps more. 2000rpm or lower seems to be the sweet spot regarding power and managing heat spikes.

Just recently I have noticed inconsistent temps with no trailer and minimal loads. I suspect my thermostat is finally failing (known) issue with the 2019’s. I plan on trying to get it covered under warranty which I still have.

If your flat towing a giant rv box 55-65mph in mild temps you definitely should not be seeing 244. My first guess is the same the crap thermostat used in the 19’s. Theres an upgraded one now.

The stat is a great move. My trans stays cool now, rarely over 190. Had ran 205 since brand new. I thought it was normal because of that, I’d have questioned it if I hadn’t seen it from day one. I saw my gauge bounce the coolant temp a few times and after all the reading I did on here, did the stat and haven’t looked back. Just do it!
