A4WD What does it mean?

I have an 02 XLT 4x4. it says it is running A4WD. does this mean all wheel drive because thats really the same as 4 wheel drive. I was wanting to know because why would they have 4H and 4L if it's AWD. It doesn't say in the manual. I have looked. Please help me figure out this dillema if you can.
Thank you.
