The ABS comes on when breaking in my '02 Expedition. When coming to a stop, right before you actually stop, the ABS kicks on. What would cause this? It happens if you are trying to stop both fast and slow.

check your brakes over really good, fluid level, pads, see if the inner rear pads are getting thin, check the thickness of all 4 rotors, then clean the grooved metal ring on your front axles with brake parts cleaner and check the abs wires , unplug and see if connections are dirty

there is a wire from each wheel hub that goes to the body and one on the rear diff. You can't usually tell by looking. I would give you an 80 percent chance if you replace both fronts it would be cured. You could disconnect both sensors and spin the front wheel by hand record the ac voltage and compare to the other side. then replace the one with the lower voltage. It SHOULD give you the bad sensor this way. Try to spin the wheels about 1 rev per second
