I bought a new 2019 Expedition Stealth. I absolutely loved it.....until I took it in for it's service. They were replacing the left rear taillight assembly. It had more than was "acceptable" condensation inside every morning. While it was in, they performed it's first oil change and a rotate and balance. It came back as a disaster. Massive front end vibration. I took it back and they said all 4 tires were out of balance. I, of course immediately said: "interesting since you guys just did a rotate and balance". They supposedly rebalanced the tires. I got it back and immediately took it out to I-95 and sure enough, still unacceptable vibration. This happened twice more. I was told they cannot instruct an employee to exceed a posted highway speed to test a vehicle. Interesting. But it gets better. The service manager, I think his name was Tim, says "what type of vehicle did you come out of before you bought the Expedition? Maybe you just don't know how a truck should feel". Talk about an insult, this was amazing. I said, listen "Tim, I have owned 5 SUV's including 2 Expeditions, I currently have a car collection of over 10 cars. I know when a vehicle has a problem. You guys did something on the initial service. Admit it". Of course I got the "deer in the headlights" look.
Bottom line, I took it to an independent tire shop. They force balanced all 4 tires including rotation of 2 on the rims and it improved significantly. But it was never the same.

I immediately traded the 2019 Expedition Stealth with low miles on a new Porsche Cayenne Turbo. Couldn't be happier.
The funny thing is that I was looking to buy another one in 4X4 for a place I have out west, but obviously now, that's off the table.

Most dealers actually all dealers are not tire shops none actually have a balance machine in their shopin my region. All they do is rotate the tires which a half arse job.

If your taking your car to a dealer for tire work you probably should have bought a Porsche to start with. Our Porsche dealer takes their cars over to the same tire shop I take my cars and the same Alignment shop I take my cars. My buddy paid $100 at the same shop the Porsche dealer charges $400 for.

My Expedition only goes back to the dealer for warranty, Recalls. Its the best way to avoid bad repairs and damage.

It really is staggering the difference in service you can get from dealer to dealer... Clearly you are more used to luxury brand levels of service. Lincoln would definitely be the way to go if you need to tow more than 6k.

I used to drive 2hrs each way for service. These dealerships wonder why Tesla wants to deal direct to customers... It was the service manager who wanted to belittle me while simultaneously sounding like a complete idiot. Needles to say a friend had his entire cars worth of oil on his garage floor because the same dealership didn't replace the gasket on the drain plug.

Expy to Cayenne is a bizarre migration path. Two different categories, IMO.

I think I would have invested differently. Maybe a new Escalade as they are in the same class.

Personally, I would take a Urus over the Cayenne, but maybe that is just me.

The service manager might not have been as eloquent as you'd liked, but first-time truck & full-sized SUV owners commonly complain about ride quality. It sounds foreign to those of us who have owned multiple SUVs, but it is a thing. As common as fuel economy complaining.

In the early 90's my dad bought a new Lexus sedan and routinely complained to the dealer and anyone that would listen that he couldn't hear it running. For months he'd leave the door open while starting it, then rev it, then close the door, satisfied that it was in fact running. We couldn't get him to trust the tach. I cringe thinking back at how annoyed the dealership must have been with this old dude complaining. The "perfect" Jag he had before would send a silent shockwave thru the passenger compartment confirming ignition and combustion had commenced.

Wow. They rebalanced the tires during a tire rotation? Never had that done before.

And, the used 2014 Expedition EL we bought last summer continues to amaze us with it's comfortable smooth ride. I've had one full sized Chevy SUV, one full sized Ford PU and still have a full sized Chevy PU. None of those three ride as smooth and quiet as the big Expedition.

If yours was smooth before the screwed it up they need to come clean about what they did to screw it up.

I recently started dating an instagram model.. and I absolutely loved her. Up until the first time I told her it was her turn to arrange dinner. Would you believe she ordered Uber Eats from Chipotle? First time, they forgot the guacamole. I told her we can't have gluten free burrito bowels without guacamole so I made her order it again. Next time, she ordered the guacamole but then forgot to get me pinto beans and got me black beans instead! Needless to say, I had to dump her and I'm now engaged to Elizabeth Hurley. Much happier!

I think his point was he loved the truck hated the dealer which prompted him to switch brands all together. Since you got a cayenne, look at the nav for your 4x4 needs. Lincoln service seems to be a bit better off than ford service.

For somebody who currently has a fleet of more than ten vehicles, I would think he'd be quite knowledgeable about the differences in experience from dealer to dealer and would be able to try a different one in the area if he really loved the truck.

Personally, I would take a Levante over a Urus or Cayenne. In fact that's what I'll get as soon as the ashtray fills up on this Expedition

i always find it funny that someone comes here, bashes our Expedition and tells us he got another brand, what is he trying to accomplish? Probably switched to a Kia Sportage.
