i have a 98 expo 4.6 and i just bought an air intake kit from ebay and i'm lost on how to install it .To install the air intake do i use any part of factory parts, because i notice on the factory intake i see two ports that wires goes into. One seem like a sensor and the other seems like a vacuum line. On the the after market intake i don't see any ports to plugs these things into, unless it requires modification, i can be wrong i am a rookie.

IF it's just a cheap kit you may be required to do a little fabrication. Most of the kits make you remove the Mass Air meter out of the factory housing and keep it in the open. There is then an adapter that bolts to the mass air meter so you can clamp on the filter.

does the air filter have to extend to the side of the truck body. The stock extend and touch the opening of the side body. The main question is, I have about an 5" gap it does not touch, is that normal

send a pic.... chances are it isn't a true cold air kit if it is just sucking hot air from under the hood and ot sealing itself to the factory opeing in the fender.
