I've got an 03 Eddie Bauer and am in need of converting from air to coil in the rear only right now. I've done a few searches, but have been unable to locate part numbers to be do this. I'm unfortunately on a very tight budget, but need to get this done because the air suspension is costing me alot of money.

At the present time I'm only looking to do the rear suspension. If anyone would be able to supply me with part #'s or any additional information it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank again in advance,

Neil

Second for strutmasters - did it last year on my '03 and the results are great.

I agree with you both & thank you for the recommendation. Is there any way I can go to an advance auto or autozone & get a set of shocks/coils for lets say an F150 and they work on the expedition??? Or is the only option going with Strutmasters/Suncore???

I am not positive but I think if you just order a loaded shock/spring setup for your Expedition, it should just bolt up.

SGTOWING, thanks for the info. Anyone else have any ideas/information?

I don't think you can do just the rear in 03-6 expy.

The computer will not like having the rears removed and the fronts still in there.

If you are trying to do this on the cheap -- here is a set of 4 on eBay for under $400

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Front-Rear-...edition|Year:2003&hash=item3f11e328bf&vxp=mtr

The work is getting them put on. But worth it in my opinion. I spent a little more and went with some rancho loaded units for around $600 last year. Look for my posts on the subject.

edit -- you cannot use the rear struts from a f-150. Expy has independent rear suspension -- f-150 did not. Front's I think are the same, basically, though rancho has different part #s which I think reflects ride height more than anyhting else.

Thanks alot guys, I've been researching this and haven't found much info on just doing the rear. I'll have to try either the set on ebay or amazon.

The rears in my 03 went out too. I got the coilovers from suncore. What a great ride. To me it feels better then the Air ride. And looks better sitting normal in the driveway too. Now, if only i can get the message off the dic without hitting the rest button!

I'm ordering the complete set front/rear from suncore. I'm only going to do the rears right away. I plan on doing the fronts shortly thereafter, but don't know what you mean by "the dic" and resetting it. Are you talking about the check engine light or something else.

I just got my income tax return so I'll be ordering these this coming week. Any help from someone who did just the rears would be helpful.

Thanks again,

Neil

There will be an error message on the digital display each time you start the vehicle, saying that the air suspension is not functional. Easy enough to ignore it. This applies to 03-06. There was a way to "fix" earlier models, but not 03-06 You just hit the reset button every time after you start the engine and ignore.

As for doing only the rear, you can try, but you will have open air lines to the rear and I am not sure that the front will still work. I don't know for sure, but just saying, beware. I'm not sure the computer can handle the rear being gone.

In any case, you are headed in the right direction.

Reset to the right lower of the steering wheel, controlling the little computer in the Dash.

You can stop it whining every time, I did when I put in my strut masters.

And you don't need strutmasters/suncores - pretty sure most coils/shocks would work, they just come together as a nice easy package to bolt it.

I check eBay and got a strut masters package at a pretty big discount with free shipping which saved another $100 or so. I checked periodically, and when they came up I grabbed them.

Was half price compared to their regular website.

I tried to find the posts, but no luck. Anyone know how to plug the lines when you do the conversion?? I'm doing it tomorrow & want to be sure how to do it before hand.

Thanks
