Hello everyone i have a question. I work an overnight shift so its essential i have my alarm set every night. BUT my alarm dont work, i went to an empty parking lot today to test them and nothing happened. The panic button on the remote works but not the alarm. I tried setting it off by standing outside the truck with the window down and opening the door from the inside. Also the "Theft" light dont come on when i lock the door but comes on when i start the truck. Kind of confused here as my alarm is deff. NEEDED. Not only do i work a overnight shift i live in a bad area as well. lol all help is appreciated!

What year is it? AFAIK, unless you got an aftermarket one from the dealer or elsewhere, it wont have an active alarm, just the passive one. The passive one just doesn't allow the engine to crank unless the proper chipped key is inserted.

Did you just get the truck?

yes i just got the truck from a dealer, its a 98. Its got the theft light that comes on when i start it but it dont flash or nothing when the trucks locked. I am sure its all stock the previous owner did pretty much nothing to the truck.

I don't have a 1st gen, but as I said earlier, I don't think those came stock with an alarm. All it probably has is the passive anti-theft (PATS), which is what the blinking light is. Granted, I thought it was supposed to flash when the truck was off? Or maybe when the door is open. You should see what the manual says.

In the mean time, you'll probably want to invest in an aftermarket alarm if your need for one is that urgent.
