Looking at the Cooper Discoverer HTP or ATR tires for the wife's 2003 EB 4x4. Anyone running them or another Cooper tire? Thoughts? Put a set of their RS3's on my Bullitt a few years ago and they are GREAT!! Going to give them a try on the Expedition.

i love cooper tires, my mom and i run the STT mine is a super duty and hers is a sante fe, they work awesome

the ATR is a copy of the nokian vativa and replaced the discover a/t great all around tire

the HTP is a newer tire and was designed for the sport suv/truck market i have no personal experience with it but have heard they cup easy and are not a favorite on snow and ice

I run S/T Maxx's, great in winter. We just picked up a set of AT3's for my folk's 04. Since they are brand new I cannot say how they are in the winter, but Cooper is a good tire brand in my opinion.

I have AT3's love them! The do really well in the snow we had 3 or 4 snow storms last winter and didn't really need to put expy in 4x4. I ran the ATR's on my truck and never had a problem on or off road... They aren't mud tires but do an impressive job cleaning out with little spin.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I went on Cooper's site directly and did a search for 2003 EB Expedition 4x4 and they only came back with four options...
Cooper Tire US - Tire Comparison

Don't take it off road enough that I think I need the A/T3's, although I love that tread pattern and overall look. For what we use the truck for will probably go with the CTS or H/T. Need to make a call to my buddy at the tire shop to see what prices he can them for and go from there. I will update when I get them on and get some time with them for a proper review.

I remember my buddy was very dissapointed with his Cooper Discoverer H/T's. He had them for only 30k.

Love my Cooper Tires. On my second set replaced my ATR's with AT3's. I like the AT3's a lot more the the ATR's not that the ATR's were bad but to me the AT3's are just a much better tire. It's looking like the mileage I get out of the AT3's will be much better than the ATR's.

My 2000 currently has the tires it came with on it:

Cooper Discoverer S/T 245/75-R17

I'm not disappointed by them, but I don't know that they're tires I would have chosen.

With the amount of rain in Oregon, from Cooper's own information, these seem like an incredibly unsuitable tire for the environment. We'll see how they hold up, as the rainy season just started with a big bang.

So far, so good.

I can vouch for cooper as a tire company, they make good quality stuff. I ran the stt's until bald, and I'm putting on some wintercats for out b.c. winter.

I have Cooper Zeon LTZs on 20" rims - very aggressive tread. Haven't got to try them out in the snow yet but seem to do well in the rain.

I almost went with those. I read that they were awful on ice though, so I opted for the slightly less aggressive S/T's. I know you are in GA but have you had the tires in any snow and if so how did they hold up?

Haha I had a feeling that was going to be the response I got. No worries! :rockit:

Trust me though, it exists... A light spring dusting in MN. 002-1.jpg

I really like the look of them so I might give them a shot when these wear out. Thanks
