They are, but they cut the tongue weight and tow weight of the vehicle by half when it’s installed. They have a towing guide that I didn’t see the first time I looked.

why half? seems like it would cut the respective weights by exactly what it weighs.

I'm telling y'all... all I did was search dual battery kit and it popped right up... everything has been talked about several times over...i highly encourage everyone to use it.

Look at the date this was relevant as a thread

Wow, that thread is very old and out dated. Old school battery isolators and solenoids? A modern DC to DC smart charger will take care of all of that plus add a MPPT solar input, the ability to charge any chemistry battery. With or without a smart alternator. Be able to monitor battery voltage, draw and temp from a gauge or your smart phone. It can decide what input has the stronger voltage, so if your solar panels are kicking butt it will pick them over the alternator. Not sure if you can turn two Optima’s sideways in the Gen4’s. Mounting location is the big thing for this mod. Buying a smart charger and wire are easy.

Check out Hitch bumper tire carrier from rigd supply and its made in the US
Willco bought Hitch rack. I have a hitch rack that I have used on a few vehicles primarily to carry up sized spare tires that don’t fit in the factory spare location.

They are heavy!!! So subtract the rack and tire weight from your max tongue Weight.
However I only used it on road trips, local use, I left it in the side yard shed AKA urban mode lol.
The battery in a box stuff is reaching the point that rather than complex mods to the truck I would just get a bluetti box which could be moved around between vehicles and even the house as needed.

My guess is they don't have their hitch rated to handle WDH, high tongue weights, etc. Most accessories I have seen like this will throw a max tow weight of 3500-5000lbs on it. Or the extra extension it creates increases the leverage and cuts the tongue weight in half. Most hitch extenders have lower weights.

That my plan as well Bluetti AC200 and a DC to DC smart charger. Anderson power pole connectors flush mounted in the rear kick panel with solar in, 12v car in and a plug for the solar to go to the car battery smart charger so when I am not using the Bluetti the panels can keep the car battery topped off and the alternator can top of the Bluetti when driving.

For the perfect 12v refrigerator setup, you'll need at least one auxiliary battery. The auxiliary battery is used to run the fridge and every other 12v accessories. By jogging your fridge from an auxiliary battery, you keep away from draining the starter battery.
