Auxilary A/C Feed & Return Line

Well crap. Had this 2010 for one month and it's already in the shop. I've got a busted line that is bleeding coolant badly. It's the feed and return line for the rear heat and a/c.

Mechanic said it's a horrible manufacturer's flaw as there's no protection of rubbing between the lines and the heat shield of the car.

Is this a well-known issue with these things? He said the same situation is right there occurring with the hard lines for the a/c and I can't imagine that mine is the only one who has experienced this issue.

He's trying to come up with a workaround against replacing the whole line as he'd have to remove the axle and everything to get the whole hard line replaced.

Sorry you have this problem. I have 98 Exby with the same problem. So I hope someone has info on this. I think if the hatch is opened, there's a black strip of plastic trim that's between the rear bumper and the bottom of the body that runs along the full length of the rear. If I'm not mistaken, those return lines can be accessed from there. I'm going to take a look at it today to see if it's possible.

Update... I just checked and that line is burried between the body and frame in the back. You can't even see the section that's broken. I'm planning on replacing the current line setup, front to back, with regular heating hose, insulated, and conveniently routed. It will be a major undertaking, but I think it's worth it considering the alternative. Anyone have any ideas or advise please let me know.
