Hi guys new to the site and having trouble I have a 2003 expy 4.6 with 144,*** it's also 4x4. Well the problem I'm having is recently it started jumping almost seems like cutting in and out on acceleration idles fine just when you give it gas. I have no cel on but I kinda got on it and the cel flashed on and off so been reading on the net and it seems like its a misfire but the cel is not on so I don't know what one is bad are the codes stored in the computer so if I hooked up a scanner would it tell me I'm stumped and annoyed also how hard is it to change coil pack and plugs

I would replace all the coils.
Just a matter of time till other will quit working...

Accel takes 210$ for a set of 8 coils...

I had the same problem, no codes.... changed all 8 and is running fine now...

Ok where would you buy those at? Autozone wants $53 a peace. And do have to remove the fuel rail to change?

I got mine from Summitracing: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ACC-140032-8/ But i have a 98, 1-Gen...

I did'nt removed the rails. The screw under the fuelpressure valve will be a little bit tricky.
Work with a long magnet, so you can point the screw...

I removed only the air intake and the engine cover

Yea I found them from summit for $209 seems better than $53 a peace so I'll just get them there. I just can't believe the cel won't stay on it ****** me off that it runs that crappy and won't throw a code just a little annoying I hope this takes Care of the problem.

Yea, you shouldn't have to remove the fuel rail. Buy a few different sized extensions and swivel joints. You'll need them either way when you do a plug change. I think I also used one of those thumb ratchets as well as some dielectric grease. Hell, if you haven't already done it, might as well change the plugs...and the fuel filter.

It helps if the intake and engine cover are removed.

Amazon has Accel coils cheap...

My 2003 w/ 5.4L was suddenly running rough and showing a "Misfire" code (code P0303). In looking at the repair instructions on Autoclinix.com I found out that Amazon sells the Accel coils for about $175 a set (w/ free shipping).

I bought a set from Amazon along with some new spark plugs and received the parts in 3 days. After the repair the old Expedition runs better than new and the gas mileage is also much improved. Not sure how well the Accel coils will hold up but for the price thought it was worth a try.

Just go to any auto parts store have them read the code and they can tell you which cop is missfiring. Then just replace that one.
