Bad wiring harness

This is just an information post for everyone due to this being my second issue. I have a 2017 Expedition EL. A ways back I had an issue with the truck reading that the driver door was open, even though it wasn’t. Done lights came on, running board deployed and dash indicator came on. Found that there was a broken wire in the harness between the chassis and door. Recently my driver door lock wouldn’t work. Found another broken wire in the harness. If you encounter problems isolated to one door, I would check the harness. I was able to push the boot back, find the wire and crimp it.

Hey, I was planning on replacing the whole wire harness, but I cannot find where it connects inside the chassis. The boot is excessive and I know the wire is broken inside the boot, di you cut the boot and then seal it?
