Hi guys I was wondering which gear is best suited for everyday city driving 2H, 4AWD, 4H, or 4L? I currently have it in 2H but somebody told me I should put it on 4AWD because while the truck is in 2H the front two wheels are pulling the truck thus putting more strain on the engine vs all 4 wheels working together in 4AWD. Any truth to this?

2 high is definitely the best, although Expeditions are rear-wheel-drive based. The rear wheels (or wheel if you don't have limited slip) will be pushing the truck. There will be less strain on the truck, because the transfer case will not engage the front wheels.

Definitely 2H.....Not to mention the added stress on the T-case and front drive components, your fuel economy will drop drastically in 4H or 4AWD. Also not a good idea to use 4H or 4L on dry flat pavement. You'll fry the 4x system real quick that way.

i thought that 2h was the best. in my 00 eb i get better milage if i leave the 4wd fuse in and run in awd. i dont have the snazzy selector like the newer ones.
