I have a 1997 5.4l and I take it off-road a lot. I have heavy 10ply 35" tires, bumpers, camping gear, lift, and other off-road type stuff. At the moment my braking is very underpowered. Has anybody added more powerful brakes or done anything to increase braking performance (add heavier duty master cylinder, etc.)? I'm contemplating using a lighter tire with 6 or 8 ply but I like the peace of mind of off-roading with a thick tire. Any ideas would be awesome!

What brake pad and rotor setup are you using now ? Maybe try drilled rotors and a higher friction pad like the Hawks or something ?

I am running semi-metallic pads and OEM rotors at the moment. I've been looking into EBC pads and rotors but don't feel like dropping $1000 on pads and rotors haha! Was hoping to make a junkyard trip and get some better performance.
